So the story has been told, it's one I know But the ending will be different this time The words are pouring onto the pages I'll say anything to just about anyone I'll say anything to just about anybody who will listen Waiting for the other nature - If you find yourself a stranger to these words or in these hands Waiting for the other nature So the story will unfold, it's how this goes It's not delicate or sentimental I'll say anything to just about anyone I'll say anything to just about anybody who will listen to me
2.
I went walking in the greenery I can't remember where I stood I started blending with the scenery As the water moved beneath the woods The smallest stream was barely flowing But I followed anyway And in a gesture of unknowing I laid my answers on the ground and let them wash away And this is what it was - a massive ocean moving and moving and And this is what it was - a mountain in its stillness, unmoving and... There is a house where the sea wind blows Moves the curtains in the room The lavender on the table trembles Everything moves And this is what it was - a massive ocean moving and moving and And this is what it was - a mountain in its stillness, unmoving and...

Three Birds 04:38
An unfamiliar voice just spoke, saying 'You're alone and singing songs you shouldn't sing, and you're not listening...the words have never been inside you' I answered back, 'I do not know who I am most days or where I ought to go' But when I looked down, my feet were planted in the river Where I was I did not know Where I stood I said, 'I know this isn't home' I've gotta find me a place, a better place A place where I can heal [You say I'll know when I see its eyes, But I see the strangeness in its eyes You say this is home Soon it will all feel like home in a little while But it's been a while and nothing is changing] I came running to your door Standing there I couldn't see you even bother to look outside and see A man, a man who's cold and frightened Without words you spoke so clear A sacred song that rose, but soon would disappear You said, 'Brother, you're home, the words have always been inside you' [Three birds sing out their songs now]
4.
You find the movement in the pain 'Unraveling is strange,' you say to me as you wave your hand and sigh the refrain - How strange it is to be anything But this time you say 'anyone' But I don't feel like anyone these days Who am I underneath it all? I am... It's okay, I'll wake up feeling alone in my skin Something tells me this time Something tells me it'll be different this time You're a part of it all

Interlude 01:56
I couldn't find you where you were Singing songs you were never meant to sing I knew the words, but I forgot the melody
6.
I don't have something to say I don't have something to tell you that hasn't been said in some other way I don't have somewhere to be So I can just sit on this corner watching the far off tops of the trees They're calling to me We are the trees, we are the branches We are the leaves that fall into the soil That die and become something new
7.
The trees will fall The ground will shake The water will rise So you better have a way to escape The clouds will swell A hard rain is gonna fall The sun will darken in the end And there's nowhere to run from the one who will call But no one knows when No one knows when the sea will rise In my world, I'll catastrophize No one knows where they've been, or where they are Or where they're going to [Their holy water was all blood And from their mouths the flowers sprang And through the light of the sun Their songs arose and wove a place where I could rest my head] But no one knows when No one knows when the sea will rise In my world, I'll catastrophize No one knows where they've been, or where they are Or where they're going to

Two Houses 04:00
Tell me what you think of this Another moment nearly missed, another conversation had Another script I tried to learn By repeating word for word As disappointing as it is there is comfort in its grip Comfort in its kiss I've built this house on top of sand A world inside I'll never understand But it's easy if you swallow the words you want to rise The words you'll never write So take your pictures off the wall and put them anywhere And take your books of the shelf, it's easier when you know we tried A river flows between these homes Breathing life into these weary bones Flowing with words I cannot sing A little ghost for the offering, a little agit for the never believer Our sudden blissful songs are long enough for us who are so small Time is holding up, time isn't after us Let the river take me home again So take your pictures off the wall and put them anywhere And take your books of the shelf, it's easier when you know we tried
9.
I'm still stumbling through the scenery In my story of a century Which doesn't seem that long to me The impermanence of everything often has me wondering Why sing anything at all? Why write any song at all? What called me to the river What called me back home Was a voice saying, 'Everything belongs!' It was then that the Spirit set fire to my bones Saying, 'Child, this is home!' [I will never have the time enough to praise the way the stars hang glittering in the dark Their dewey sparks, the brimming drops of light - shine so far and sing their song of fear and fire] What called me to the river What called me back home Was a voice saying, 'Everything belongs!' It was then that the Spirit set fire to my bones Saying, 'Child, this is home!'

about

The Other Nature was recorded over the last year, a time when a lot in my life was changing. The album focuses on themes of finding home in the midst of shifting scenery. Writing these songs was helpful in that process. Thank you for taking the time to listen.

about

Geology Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

Geology is the home recording project of Greg Jehanian, the long time bassist of Philadelphia post-hardcore band, mewithoutYou. Through straightforward songwriting and melodies, Jehanian seeks to highlight the small, ordinary moments that draw us close to the enormity of Mystery. In summation, he states Geology's essence in these few words - lo-fi, high hopes. ... more
